Days 1-3: Exploring Laos
Vientiane:
– Day 1: Arrive in Vientiane, the capital of Laos. I rented a motorbike to explore the city. The first stop was “Patuxai”, a victory monument where you can enjoy a panoramic view of the city from the top.
– Day 2: Visit “That Luang Stupa”, one of the most sacred temples in Laos. Then, head to “Wat Si Saket”, an ancient temple with thousands of Buddha statues.
– Day 3: Spend some relaxing time at “Buddha Park” and visit the “Vientiane Night Market” for shopping and tasting local cuisine.
Luang Prabang:
– Day 4: Travel to Luang Prabang by bus or plane. Explore the “Royal Palace Museum” and “Wat Xieng Thong”, a temple famous for its unique architecture.
– Day 5: Visit the “Kuang Si Waterfall”, one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Laos. Don’t forget to bring swimwear to enjoy the crystal-clear pools.
Days 6-9: Exploring Cambodia
Siem Reap:
– Day 6: Arrive in Siem Reap and visitAngkor Wat, a world wonder. I recommend spending at least one day exploring the entire temple complex.
– Day 7: Explore Angkor Thom and Bayon, known for its giant smiling Buddha faces. End the day with a sunset visit to Ta Prohm, a temple famous for trees growing through the stones.
Phnom Penh:
– Day 8: Travel to Phnom Penh, the capital of Cambodia. Visit the Royal Palace and the Silver Pagoda, which houses many national treasures.
– Day 9: Visit the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum to learn about Cambodia’s tragic history. In the afternoon, stroll around Phsar Thmei (Central Market) for souvenir shopping.
Days 10-14: Exploring Vietnam
Hanoi:
– Day 10: Arrive in Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam. Visit Hoan Kiem Lake and Ngoc Son Temple, then wander around the Old Quarter to enjoy street food.
– Day 11: Visit the Temple of Literature, Vietnam’s first university. In the afternoon, visit the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology to learn about the cultures and customs of Vietnam’s ethnic groups.
Ha Long Bay:
– Day 12: Visit Ha Long Bay, a natural wonder of the world. I chose an overnight cruise to explore the stunning caves and picturesque beaches.
– Day 13: Continue exploring Ha Long Bay, visit Titop Island and swim at the beach. Return to Hanoi in the afternoon.
Ho Chi Minh City:
– Day 14: Fly to Ho Chi Minh City. Visit the Reunification Palace and Ben Thanh Market for shopping and tasting southern specialties. In the evening, stroll around Nguyen Hue Walking Street to experience the vibrant city life.
Travel Tips
– Visa: Check visa requirements for each country before your trip.
– Currency: Each country uses a different currency, so it’s best to exchange money in advance or find reliable exchange locations.
– Transportation: Use public transportation or rent motorbikes for easy and cost-effective travel.
