DAY 02: TRA QUE VEGETABLE – HOI AN TOWN (B/L)

Today’s tour will begin at 08:30. Escape from Hoi An’s bustling town center and transfer to a local farm in Tra Que herb village for an insightful morning in the countryside. Explore the vegetable garden, learn about the local produce grown there, and the hearing the history of Tra Que.
Assist the farmers as they work in the garden. Depending on the time of year, this may include tilling the land, fertilizing the garden with seaweed, or picking ripe vegetables. Throughout the experience, learn more about their daily lives and the rich culture that exists in the Vietnamese countryside.
After this interactive activity, enjoy an herbal foot massage to revitalize tired muscles. As midday approaches join a local family to prepare lunch. Learn the secrets behind some of Hoi An’s most famous traditional dishes. Using vegetables and herbs straight from the garden, cook tam huu, prawns, and pork mixed with lots of herbs, and banh xeo, a savory pancake served inside thin sheets of rice paper. Then sit down and enjoy this home-cooked meal, wrapping up a memorable day in the countryside.
After lunch, take a walk through town, seeing remarkably well-preserved traditional houses that have withstood 200 years of weather and war. Learn about the prosperous merchants who used to live in these homes, trading with buyers from all over the world.
Make a stop at the Japanese Covered Bridge, one of two such bridges in Vietnam. The bridge spans a small waterway and was built more than 400 years ago to connect the Japanese community with the Chinese who lived on the other side of the water. Admire the carvings and paintings inside the bridge, learning about their symbolism and cultural significance.
Continue to a Chinese communal hall, a colorful mélange of bright gates, dragon statues, and elaborate rooftops. Get an introduction to ancestor worship while visiting the family altar and watching local devotees making offerings.
Additionally, visit some of Hoi An’s famous handicraft shops, art galleries, and the town’s vibrant market. Explore smaller laneways and local neighborhoods, gaining a better appreciation of Hoi An’s endless charm. After this insightful glimpse of Hoi An, say farewell to the guide and return to the hotel.

DAY 03: HOI AN – MY SON – DA NANG – HUE (B/L)

Enjoy another breakfast at your hotel and then visit My Son Sanctuary, a UNESCO World Heritage site, located in a lush valley. My Son is considered to be in the same league as some of Southeast Asia’s greatest archaeological sites with its towers built between the 4th to 13th centuries.
Afternoon, travel to the ancient capital of Hue along one of the most beautiful coastal stretches of Vietnam, over the glorious Hai Van Pass. Translating into English as ‘the mountain pass of ocean clouds,’ this elevation affords spectacular views of Danang to one side and untouched bays to the other. We also stop at the small fishing village of Lang Co, often referred to as one of the most beautiful bays in the world, before arriving in Hue in the late afternoon.
Overnight in Hue city

DAY 04: HUE (B/L)

After breakfast visits the tombs of King Tu Duc and Khai Dinh. Each tomb has its own unique architecture reflecting the king's character and individual philosophy. Tu Duc was a poet, and thus there is a sweeping poetic nature to the design that blends effortlessly with the countryside. Khai Dinh was more eccentric, and his tomb is both striking and cluttered but is a true marvel to behold. Enjoy a great lunch of local Hue food.
In the afternoon, pay an important visit to the impressive abode of the 19th and 20th Century Nguyen Dynasty emperors, the grand Imperial City, and the intricate Royal Citadel.
Within the towering outer walls lies the Imperial City containing dynastic temples, stunning garden houses, and scenes of Hue’s laidback lifestyle. At the center of the Imperial City rests the Royal Palace of the Forbidden Purple City. Sadly, much of the palace was destroyed during the Tet Offensive in 1968 but it is gradually being restored and it already makes an extremely impressive place to visit, with gorgeous temples decorated with porcelain art, striking mythological imagery, and the odd French colonial architectural beauty.
Then take to the water and sail upstream to the Perfume River until reaching Thien Mu Pagoda, Hue’s oldest pagoda and one of the most significant places of worship in Vietnam.
Overnight in Hue.

I traveled alone so this tour was the best choice for me. I booked the cheapest option to save money but it was more than I expected, especially all of my hotels throughout the trip which were so nice and clean. Central Vietnam has a lot of beautiful beaches. Recommend this tour. – Mr. Lee
