Siem Reap is an area located in the northwest part of Cambodia. Today, set off to encounter the beautiful temples which are considered Angkor’s jewels. The day starts with the visit to Ta Prohm, perhaps most popularly known as The Tomb Raider temple. This beautiful temple is overgrown with fig trees, giving it a haunting yet exotic atmosphere.
Get inside the reinforced city of Angkor Thom to admire the mysterious Bayon temple, crowned with a large number of serene faces sculpted on its towers. Also, take this chance to learn more about the intricate carvings of the Terrace of the Elephants and the Terrace of the Leper King.
Wind your way to Angkor Wat, one of the modern wonders of the world. Be amazed by the sheer size of the temple and learn how the Khmer Empire prospered between the 9th and 13th Centuries, around the time when the temple was built.
Overnight in Siem Reap.
Today, we’ll escape the city by driving 48 kilometers North of Siem Reap to visit the holy Kulen Mountains, also referred to as Phnom Kulen (“Mountain of the Lychees”) by locals. The sandstone from this mountain was the main supplier of construction materials for the Angkor Kingdom. We’ll stop at the sacred site of The River of a Thousand Lingas, which features hundreds of lingas carved in the sandstone bed of the river, which dates back to the 9th century. Further downstream, large blocks of stone, also underwater, are carved with Apsaras dancers and Vishnu figures.
Next on the agenda is a wander around the mountain-top pagoda which is home to relics, statues, and a large reclining Buddha. The last mountain stop will be Kulen Waterfall, featuring a natural pool which is the perfect place to cool off on a hot day and a great picnic spot too, so that’s what we’ll do. On the way back to Siem Reap we’ll pay a visit to local villages making palm sugar. Back to the hotel.

This was my first trip to Cambodia and Vietnam with Connek Trip and we were definitely happy with their service and their efforts to make everything ideal for our family. Our package tour featured the majority of the must-see attractions. We travel frequently and have visited many beautiful destinations in Cambodia and Vietnam, and we have never had such a positive experience with a travel agency. My family thoroughly enjoyed our time in Ha Long Bay. The scenery was breathtaking and the beach was really clean. Totally recommend this trip. – Mrs. Mary
